Minister of Tourism, Ali Waheed has departed on a tour across three atolls as part of the ministry’s efforts to expand local tourism nationwide.
The minister is set to visit a total of seven islands on the three-atoll tour. As such, he will be touring Bilehdhoo and Magoodhoo in Faafu atoll, Muli and Veyvah in Meemu atoll as well as Rakeedhoo, Thinadhoo and Keyodhoo in Vaavu atoll.
During the three-day tour, Minister Waheed will be inquiring island councils and residents on the challenges their local tourism face, as well as their urgent requirements in order to expand local tourism. He is set to meet residents employed in the tourism sector in said regions.
The ministry revealed that the purpose of the trip is to evaluate the obstacles surfacing for local tourism development in order to work out efficient solutions for them. It added that councils’ opinions and recommendations will be sought for tourism development in their respective regions.
This tour comes as part of the many tours the minister is observed to be embarking on in order to expand local tourism across the nation. Many such trips are predicted across the nation as part of the ministry’s development vision.
