The biggest challenge for the current administration is former President Abdulla Yameen, says the leader of opposition People’s National Congress (PNC) Abdul Raheem Abdulla.
He said this while speaking to the press on Wednesday after nearly two months abroad, and noted that this administration will not be able to tolerate the fact that the former president is working in the opposition.
The former Fonadhoo constituency MP also spoke on Yameen being summoned to the criminal court, saying that they knew that this day would come.
Raheem said that he has full confidence that Yameen will present himself to court and face any questions.
Further noting that “nothing can be proven against Yameen,” he said that “this is being done to stop the development he has brought.”
The opposition leader also expressed concern over the current political environment in the country, and said that “it is changing drastically.”
He also criticized the government over Abdulla Luthufee’s extradition case, saying that it is worrying that he was brought back “with such respect.”
Furthermore, Raheem noted that the opposition will work “responsibly.”
He said that they have plans to strengthen their work, and that they will keep a close eye on all institutions and keep the public informed.
Raheem said that they plan to hold events across the country.
