12 names have been nominated for Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) membership, including that of the former Auditor General.
The names have been sent to the parliament’s committee on independent institutions for evaluation.
In a letter to the Speaker, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih stated that he has nominated 12 names from the list of people who applied for the position and requested that the parliament approve five of the names.
The 12 nominees are: Fathimath Anool, Arif Rasheed, Zeeniya Abdulla, Ibrahim Shakeel, Aishath Abdulla, Mariyam Shiuna, Mujtaba Hameed, Ali Ashraf, Mariyam Ahmed, Niyaz Ibrahim, Abdulla Miz’an, and Adam Shamil.
The term for the current members of ACC ends on September 9. There are currently four members in the commission due to the resignation of its president, Hassan Luthufee, earlier this month.
The current members consist of commission president Muavviz Rasheed, vice president Aminath Minna, and members Sofwan Mohamed and Yazmeed Ahmed.
This is the second term for Muavviz Rasheed.
