Officials of the ministry and IOIG met with the Vice President at the President’s Office on Thursday afternoon

Senior officials of the Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG) and the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment briefs Vice President Faisal Naseem on the ongoing preparations for Indian Ocean Island Games 2019.

Officials of the ministry and IOIG met with the Vice President at the President’s Office on Thursday afternoon.

VP Naseem holds discussions with seniors at IOIG and Youth Ministry

During a meeting, VP Naseem shed light on the importance given by the administration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to empower the youth community and its priority in developing sports in the country.

Having held discussions on the country’s preparations for the Indian Ocean Island Games, VP Naseem assured that the government will provide full support to develop sports and empower youth in the country.

While Maldives will be competing in this year’s Indian Ocean Island Games, top athletes from Mauritius, Seychelles, Comoros, Madagascar, Mayotte and Réunion will also be taking part in this multi-sport event that takes place once every four years where athletes from across the Indian Ocean contend.
