"No basis" to the allegation against Judge Huzaifa: JSC

DJA has since dismissed this employee, over a sexual harassment case

An employee at the court filed a case against the judge on June 18, claiming that she was working to frame him

JSC said that this was uncovered during an investigation into another judge at the same court

Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has decided not to look into a complaint filed against Family Court Judge Huzaifa Mohamed.

JSC said that there is “no basis” for the allegation, adding that this was uncovered during an investigation into another judge at the same court.

It highlighted that a case against the individual that filed the complaint against Judge Huzaifa was investigated by the Department of Judicial Administration (DJA). The department decided to dismiss the employee, after its investigation.

This employee claimed that the judge was trying “to frame him,” further accusing her of having a personal grudge over the dismissal of the court’s marriage registrar Ahmed Abdulla after he was accused of handling Hajj Group's financial transactions at the court.

However, it has since been reported that he was investigated and fired over a sexual harassment case.

Also at its 41st meeting, JSC decided against giving the audio recording of its meetings held on June 13, as requested by opposition People’s National Congress.

Noting that judges’ personal information is mentioned in their meetings, JSC said that the decision was reached as it laws and regulations does not state to provide such details to the party.

It has also decided to include non-commission members in investigative committees, as well as to halt the hire of additional magistrates until its review on the courts concludes.
