Gender Minister Shidhatha Shareef’s meeting with the parliament’s human rights committee has been held behind closed doors.
The Gender Minister has admitted that the ministry’s negligence had led to the disappearance of 14-year-old Shaim Abdulla.
Police began searching for Shaim after he fled the Villingili children’s shelter 12 days ago.
Before the arrival of the Minister, committee members voted to hold the meeting behind closed doors, as their discussion might violate Shaim’s rights.
The purpose of the meeting was to obtain more information on Shaim’s case.
