Suspended Supreme Court Justice Abdulla Didi has travelled abroad on a personal trip.
RaajjeMV understands that Justice Didi headed to Malaysia on Friday, and that he had obtained the frequented approval from the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) to go on the 15-day trip.
Justice Didi’s attorney tweeted that JSC has been notified of his return date and that his trip was planned in advance.
Didi is under investigation, at both the JSC and Maldives Police Service, for using his position to influence criminal proceedings.
JSC’s investigative meeting with him was held in public. At the meeting, all allegations against Didi were read out, including helping to release suspects in journalist Ahmed Rilwan’s abduction case. He is to have worked closely along police’s top suspect in the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) corruption case.
