Former President and PPM President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has stated that the nation will be thankful for those who had raised their voices against corruption and injustice for the sake of the nation.
In a tweet posted Monday, the former President had made this statement and calling on all to put the nation first.
His statement came amid several high profile defections to the opposition movement from the Government, such as MP Saud Hussain, MP Ameeth and PPM Councilor Mamnoon.
Their defections have been welcomed by the major opposition parties.
MDP added that following the no confidence motion on Parliament Speaker Abdullah Maseeh, the Government had launched targeted attacks on opposition. It further said the Government had realized they had lost their super majority status and resorted to using the Police to intimidate opposition leaders.
