JSC looks into delays in court trials

This was revealed at a press conference on Wednesday

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has launched a probe into delays in court trials.

JSC’s director, Hassan Zaheen revealed this at a press conference on Wednesday, where he informed the media on the JSC’s work for the week.

There, he highlighted that the commission has received a number of complaints from the public regarding the delays in court proceedings.

Noting that the commission had decided to analyze court statistics and study the current situation, Zaheen said that a report on the matter was submitted at the meeting on Wednesday.

Following, the commission has decided to further analyze the matter and to probe whether the judges are responsible for the delays.

Zaheen said that JSC will launch a disciplinary investigation against a judge found responsible.

A three-member sub committee was formed to investigate the matter, and the work is to start at the Criminal Court.
