All judges of the Maldives judiciary will be evaluated with the help of experts, states the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
Director Hassan Zaheen said that JSC has discussed the parliament’s request to evaluate the Supreme Court justices.
Director Zaheen said that, since this is would be a new initiative, JSC wishes to assess the performance of all Maldivian judges with the help of experts.
The regulation on assessing the performance of judges was published in 2014. Its purpose is to improve the judiciary, improve legal services, and uphold the rights of citizens.
The Judges’ Association of Maldives has praised JSC’s move to assess all the judges.
