Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has lifted the suspension of ADh. Maamigilli Magistrate Ahmed Nihan.

JSC announced this at a press conference on Monday, saying that the suspension was lifted as the High Court has overturned his 17-year conviction.

He was sentenced to 17 years in prison in June 2016 after being found guilty of forging an arrest warrant for then-President Abdulla Yameen.

JSC said that despite being relieved from suspension, that he is still under investigation “to ensure that there is no disciplinary issue.”

While his conviction was overturned in November 2018, JSC said that it was waiting for the appeal process to conclude before taking an action.
