Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has completed projects in 13 islands.

At a press conference on Sunday, MTCC’s Construction and Projects Management’s Head of Department Ahmed Latheef said that 13 of their 24 projects in the islands have been completed.

The completed projects include five harbor development projects, one airport development project, and smaller projects such as developing waste management systems, Latheef said, adding that while the Male’ Industrial Village project has been proceeding at different stages since 2016, the project is now almost complete.

Latheef said that the major changes made within MTCC has resulted in the company receiving more work, which includes road development projects in seven islands, and that MTCC will be submitting proposals for the public sector investment programmes included in the state budget.

Also at the press conference, MTCC CEO Hassan Shah said their ongoing projects include harbor development in six islands, three beach conservation projects, and two airport development projects.

Shah said they have reclaimed 60% of land in HA Hoarafushi for the new airport and that reclamation will be completed this year, adding that 80% of land has been reclaimed in GDh Faresmaathodaa to make way for airport development.
