Supreme Court Justice Abdulla Didi has denied allegations that he had taken money from former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb.
At the recent open investigative meeting, the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) publicized some text messages from Justice Didi’s phone to a ‘Suspect 1’, which showed that the Justice wanted money to travel abroad.
It is likely that ‘Suspect 1’ is Adeeb since, in the messages, Justice Didi addressed him by Adeeb’s nickname, ‘Bro’.
The messages also show that he had accepted money from suspects involved in the MMPRC embezzlement case to issue particular verdicts to politicians and to had also used his position to gain undue benefits.
Speaking to RaajjeMV, Justice Didi said he has never taken money from Adeeb and claimed that JSC’s allegations are based on ‘fake’ evidence.
At the investigative meeting, JSC also presented evidence that Justice Didi was bribed to release suspects in the case of missing journalist Ahmed Rilwan, and used his influence to obtain government positions for his family members.
