Police probe vandalism of house in Nilandhoo
The council said the vandalism is being investigated as a criminal case

The police service has begun an investigation into the vandalism of a house in GA Nilandhoo.

Sosunge was vandalized with engine oil on Thursday night.

In a Facebook post, one of the house residents said that the house was vandalized after they filed a complaint at the council over people at the nearby futsal field kicking the football into the house.

The resident said that, despite repeated complaints, the council dismissed their concerns as a nonissue.

Denying the claim, council president Nasih Ibrahim said that they have yet to find out the reason for the vandalism and that there have been different rumors in the island.

He said that the council had doubled the fences after the residents filed their complaint and that they are discussing with the youth ministry to make the fences higher.

He also said that balls occasionally get kicked over the fence and into the house and that the young players have also complained that the residents destroyed the eight balls that had reached the house in the last four months.

Highlighting the severity of the vandalism, he said the case is being investigated as a criminal case.
