Maldives Police Service (MPS) has arrested a 29-year-old under allegations of robbery in Naifaru island of Lhaviyani atoll.

Police revealed that they had received the report of a break-in at a shop in Naifaru and that the glass panes of the shop were shattered by the robber.

Further, they stated that they had arrested the 29-year-old man under a court order close to 12am on Thursday.

Police added that they had recovered some of the cash stolen in the break in. As such, they confiscated MVR 845, 20 euros and USD 556.

RaajjeMV understands that taken were about MVR 1,100 and USD 750.

Officers also confiscated the equipment used to break into the shop.

Police have since taken on investigations into the break in.
