Commissioner of Police, Mohamed Hameed has vowed to investigate and prioritize cases related to the promotion of terrorist organizations.
He is to have made the comment after a graffiti supporting a terror group appeared in southernmost Addu City.
The commissioner said that the institution will investigate and give utmost priority to those working to create religious conflict in the country, whether by supporting and promoting terror groups or mocking Islam.
He further noted that the police, along with all other relevant institutions, are doing “what is necessary” to combat the issue.
Earlier this year, police launched an investigation into hate speech and death threats after a public chat channel started branding individuals as apostates. Some prominent figures have been questioned in the investigation.
