Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has begun a vessel inspection for the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

During the operation, MNDF Malé area Coast Guard squadron will be active in inspecting vessels in the region, and examining if they are following the rules and standards that come under the vessel safety certificate and safety of vessels.

As such, officers will be inspecting if boat captains are licensed to operate a vessel, if vessels have proper working communication systems and if the vessel carries more than its maximum capacity.

Further, officers are to inspect several other factors that are important for the safety and security of travelers.

The MNDF squadron will be active near the Malé harbor area and beyond, during the three-day program which is being conducted with Eid holidays, as many individuals will be travelling during the coming days.

This comes at a time the Maldives Meteorological Service has predicted squally weather to prevail over the country for the next few days.
