Parliament elected her as the JSC member to represent parliament last week

Thulhaadhoo MP Hisaan Hussain has been appointed a member of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih presented MP Hisaan with her letter of appointment at a ceremony at the President’s Office on Monday.

She also took the oath of membership administered by Supreme Court Justice Abdulla Areef.

Parliament elected her as the JSC member to represent parliament last week.

Hisaan earned a Masters in Law in the United Kingdom in 2005 and accepted her first job at the Attorney General’s office. She established her law firm in 2007 and was appointed secretary of legal affairs at the President’s Office in President Mohamed Nasheed’s administration.

She also took on prominent cases including that of Nasheed and other political leaders arrested during President Abdulla Yameen’s administration.

The JSC comprises of the Parliament Speaker, a member elected by the Parliament, a Supreme Court judge, Attorney General, a lower court judge, a judge from the High Court, the President of the Civil Service Commission, a member nominated by the President, a general member nominated by the parliament, and an attorney.
