Male’ City residents will only be allowed to travel on foot in the afternoon of Eid al-Fitr and World Environment Day, the following day.
The Male’ City Council passed the resolution on Saturday.
Noting that Male’ is the most populated city in Maldives with the worst traffic, the city council stated that it has banned motor vehicles from travelling in Male’ and Villimale’ from 4pm to 6:30pm on Tuesday and Wednesday, to avoid any accidents when young people and families bring out their children to join the celebrations.
The resolution was signed by seven of the 13 members of the Male’ City Council.
