Maldives Police Service (MPS) has arrested a man for sexually assaulting two children, from capital city Malé’s suburban extension Hulhumale.
Police media official revealed that the 19-year-old was arrested for sexually assaulting a six-year-old and an eight-year-old.
He was arrested under a court order in the late hours of Saturday.
A video clip of the man has since been circulating in social media. The video in question shows him being publicly humiliated by some individuals. He was stripped down and forced to walk on the streets of Hulhumale.
The Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services has also confirmed that they are looking into such a case.
