A 20-year-old has been injured in a road accident on Wednesday.

Maldives Police Service revealed that the accident took place when a motorcycle on the Sinamale Bridge, on the way to capital city Malé from Hulhumale, had attempted to overtake another motorcycle and collided into a car on the opposite lane.

The police received the report of the accident a little past 9am on Wednesday.

The motorcycle had evidently skidded 116 feet before it collided into another motorcycle.

The 20-year-old who had been riding the motorcycle had attained several injuries, police reported. They also revealed that he did not have a license on him when the accident had occurred. The two individuals on the other motorcycle had also attained various injuries.

Police have since taken the motorcycle which the 20-year-old had been riding, into police custody.
