People’s National Congress (PNC) has called on the government to follow the pledges made during the presidential campaign.
In a press release on Sunday, PNC stated that it is concerned that many employees have been fired without reason since President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s inauguration.
PNC stated that it vehemently condemns the act of threatening numerous workers with dismissal or transfer over political differences.
Also in the press release, the opposition party stated that it was concerned over the blackouts in the islands and the broken air conditioners in Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital, which the party claimed was a sign of the current government’s ineffectiveness.
PNC ended the press release by calling on the government to be more responsible and solve these issues as quickly as possible, adding that the party is always ready to hold the government accountable.
The President’s Office spokesperson Ibrahim Hood has said that the government does not have a policy or program to dismiss employees and that no institution has been ordered to fire its workers.
He added that the air conditioners in the state hospital has already been fixed.
