Senior Villa Air employee terminated, unlawfully
Labour Party founder further Abdulla Haseen said that the party will “do everything” to get justice for those that are being treated unlawfully, by employers

A senior employee at Villa Air has been terminated unlawfully, says Maldives Labour and Social Democratic Party (Labour Party).

At a press conference held on Thursday, the party’s secretary general Abdulla Haseen revealed that the matter has been filed at the Employment Tribunal.

While the Labour party has filed two other similar cases at the Tribunal, Haseen said that hearings are ongoing in these cases.

Also at Thursday’s press conference, Haseen highlighted that some companies are refusing to pay Ramadan allowance to employees.

According to him, companies that have failed to provide the allowance include, state-owned Waste Management and Corporation (WAMCO.)

Noting that some employees at WAMCO have two jobs, Haseen said that both companies claim that the other will provide them with the Ramadan allowance.

Expressing concern over this, Haseen emphasized that “providing required allowances to their employees is the company’s responsibility.”

The Labour Party founder further said that the party will “do everything” to get justice for those that are being treated unlawfully, by employers.
