All the offices stationed in the building where Mookai Suites is located has been shut down.

The offices in the 10-storey building were shut down on Wednesday morning, after a fire broke out in the building on Tuesday night. These offices include Hajj Corporation and the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) office.

On Tuesday night, the hotel had been vacated due to the smoke bellowing following the fire.

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) had earlier cited hotel employees saying that that the fire was sparked after issues with cables on the first floor of the building.

About an hour into the incident, smoke had stopped bellowing from the building.

A team from MNDF Fire and Rescue was able to quell the fire by 09:58, revealed MNDF. MNDF revealed that no injuries were reported.
