Maldives Police Service (MPS) has revealed that a Ukrainian citizen has died after a road accident on Monday morning.

Police revealed that the 31-year-old had died after a bus had collided into her near a Fuel Supplies Station in capital city Malé’s suburban extension Hulhumale.

While the accident occurred at around 06:30 on Monday morning, police revealed that they believe the bus driver had fallen asleep while driving and ran over the woman.

Authorities have since arrested the bus driver, who is licensed to operate vehicles.

Police is further investigating the case.
