HRCM stated that it is monitoring the investigation and urging the police to speed up their work

Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM) has met with the police service to discuss the latest updates in missing journalist Ahmed Rilwan’s case.

HRCM stated that it is monitoring the investigation and urging the police to speed up their work.

The commission stated that it is regularly meeting with the police to obtain the latest documents in the case and that it has also been involved in the earlier Criminal Court trial.

HRCM also stated that it is holding meetings with the Prosecutor General’s office to discuss the court trial and the police service’s findings.

After Rilwan’s disappearance in August 2014, two suspects were charged over his abduction but were acquitted by the Criminal Court late last year.
