FIU begins work to join international financial group

A team of experts is evaluating FIU | MMA
Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) has begun work to join Egmont Group, a united body of 159 financial intelligence units.
FIU, an independent unit run under the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), needs to be sponsored by two foreign financial intelligence units in order to join Egmont Group.
The financial intelligence units of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have sponsored Maldives' FIU and a team of experts from both countries is in the Maldives to evaluate whether the unit fits their standards.
MMA’s Governor Ahmed Naseer and FIU Head Ibrahim Ahmed Nasir are now working closely with the team and improving the unit.
