Maldives Police Service (MPS) has arrested a 19-year-old in connection to theft cases in Miladhoo, Noonu atoll.

Police revealed that they had searched a house in the island under a court order upon being tipped off regarding the break-in on 21 April where MVR 19,000 was stolen. During the raid, officers had confiscated MVR 94،705 from the house, inside a bag. Police also found MVR 1,513 from a hidden wallet inside the house.

Officers also reported that they believe some of the cash confiscated includes the money stolen from a safe in Hidaya School in Miladhoo on Saturday night.

Perpetrators had broken into the safe in the school and stolen over MVR 100,000. RaajjeMV understands that there was a total of MVR 101,300 in the safe at the time.

On the same day police had arrested a 19-year-old in connection to both robberies.

While investigations are underway, robberies and theft cases across the Maldives have been on the rise as of late.
