2,690 Maldivians living abroad register for new Aasandha scheme
Merana will provide services to Maldivians living in Sri Lanka, India, and Malaysia

2,690 have registered for Aasandha Company’s new health insurance scheme ‘Merana’, aimed for Maldivians living abroad.
At a press conference on Friday, Aminath Zeeniya, general manager of the national health insurance provider said that the scheme will provide services to Maldivians living in Sri Lanka, India, and Malaysia.
Maldivians living in these countries for at least six months can register for Merana and will be allocated MVR 150,000 per year, with MVR 10,000 for outpatient services and the total available amount being used for inpatient services.
Zeeniya said Merana is now available in Sri Lanka and India, and that they are preparing to introduce the service in Malaysia within two months.
Maldivians can register for the scheme by going to abroad.aasandha.mv.
Merana will be applicable in all hospitals which accept Aasandha. Four Maldivians have so far used the scheme to receive treatment in Sri Lanka.
