Ministry publicizes opening hours for local cafés and restaurants during Ramadan
Ramadan 1440 will begin on 6 May, a Monday

The Ministry of Economic Development has publicized the opening hours for local cafés and restaurants during the fasting month of Ramadan 1440.

An announcement by the ministry reads that local cafés, restaurants and canteens may be kept open from sundown till 3am during this year’s fasting month and the six days of Shawwal following Eid ul-Fitr which celebrates the end of the month.

The ministry went on to urge all local restaurants and cafés to follow this throughout the entire nation during Ramadan.

Ramadan 1440 is set to begin on 6 May and concludes in early June.

While fasting during Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam, Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar during which Muslims world-wide fast during daytime until sunset.
