Expressing his gratitude to the people for their part in the momentous win in the Saturday's parliamentary polls, Vice President Faisal Naseem has described their work as "an extraordinary victory."
Taking to twitter mere hours after the election's preliminary results were announced, VP Naseem wrote that the government will show the people results for the difference they’ve shown.
The main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) had led Saturday’s polls with a majority of votes, as per the preliminary results.
Some of the constituencies candidates fielded by MDP include central-Mahchangoalhi constituency which was secured by former President and leader of the party, Mohamed Nasheed. Interim results also reveal that MDP has won most of constituencies in Addu.
