Maldives Police Service (MPS) has arrested an individual in possession of drugs.

The 30-year-old man was arrested upon inspecting a boat that had docked in Hulhumalé harbor through a joint operation conducted by the police intelligence unit and drug enforcement department.

Police had confiscated three film cannisters suspected to contain narcotic substances upon searching the man.

Criminal Court has since remanded the man by 10 days.

This comes at a time police sonfiscated over 70 empty bottles of alcohol from a guesthouse in Mathiveri island of Alif Alif atoll.
