Maldives Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has expressed his hope that the establishment of the resident United Arab Emirates (UAE) Embassy in Maldives will be an added milestone to the cooperation between Maldives and UAE.

Minister Shahid made this statement during a meeting with newly appointed Ambassador of UAE to the Maldives, Dr. Saeed Mohamed Ali Al Shamsi at the Ministry on Monday.

The new ambassador and Maldives minister discussed further enhancing strong bilateral ties that have existed between both countries. Some areas of collaboration include technical and economical developmental projects.

During the call Ambassador Shamsi assured Minister Shahid of his commitment to work with the government of Maldives to strengthen relations between Maldives and UAE.

Those at the meeting include Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel, Foreign Secretary Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed and Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr. Abdul Waris Saeed.
