The Maldives Police Service has on Tuesday confirmed the arrest of six individuals in the murder of writer Yameen Rasheed.
“The police is confident that the investigation will be concluded successfully in the following days” the police said in a statement.
The service had assured that it would give the investigation maximum priority for the investigation and ‘create a safer environment for the Maldivian community’.
Yameen’s family is seeking an international and independent investigation into the murder, especially as Maldives’ police had been negligent in investigating death threats against him.
He was found stabbed over thirty times in home on the early hours of 23rd April.
