The Maldives National Association of Construction Industry (MACI) has on Tuesday held their annual general assembly.

MACI’s 17th general assembly was held at the Hotel Jen in capital city Malé, and the association appointed a new president.

MACI appointed Mohamed Ali Janaah, director at the Hotels and Resorts Construction, who has filled the position for six tenures before.

MACI had also appointed secretary-general, treasury, and 15 board members.

Speaking at Tuesday’s event, Janaah said that MACI said that immense competitiveness within the industry has caused unnecessary tension between operators.

Janaah guaranteed that he would uphold the interests of the entire industry.

Construction is one of the largest sectors in the Maldivian economy and contributes significantly to the national GDP.
