Ooredoo appoints Thavabalan Poobalasingam as CFO

Ooredoo Maldives has appointed Thavabalan Poobalasingam as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
He was appointed to the post on Wednesday. He was also appointed to the Board of Directors in the capacity of an Executive Board Director, as a duly nominated representative of Wataniya International FZ-LLC.
The Malaysian has 17 years of experience in Telecom. He has taken up various roles in sectors such as IT, Banking, Oil & Gas, Manufacturing since starting off his career in finance in 1992.
He joined Ooredoo in 2008, and prior to joining the team he served as the Director Finance & Taxation before moving to Ooredoo Myanmar as Financial Controller in 2013. He is also a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), UK.
Thavabalan was assigned to the post following the resignation of Ooredoo Maldives’ former CFO, Ramanathan Sivakumar.
Ooredoo Maldives noted that Ramanathan had ‘contributed immensely to the company’s successful growth journey,’ assisting it in ‘moving forward in the right strategic direction’.
It further said that it looked forward ‘to continuing [their] successful growth journey with Thavabalan’s assistance and able guidance’.
