A tourist, who was out snorkeling, has been injured after being his by a travelling dinghy.

Police media official revealed to RaajjeMV that injured was a 25-year-old German tourist who was being staying at a guest house in Dharavandhoo island of Baa atoll.

The incident was reported to the police a little past 12pm on Saturday.

While the police has refrained from revealing further details about the man, he was taken to the Dharavandhoo Health Center for treatment.

While accidents at sea have been increasing in Maldives, most reported cases are of tourist drownings from resorts. On Friday, police rescued a young woman who was almost stranded at sea on an inflatable sea bed.

There has been 11 deaths of tourists so far in the Maldives this year.
