Vice President Faisal Naseem has voiced concern over siding with the opposition coalition.
Speaking at the campaign event of MDP’s Gan candidate Mohamed Wisam on Friday night, the Vice President said he still remembers what had happened in the previous administration.
Vice President Faisal, a member of government coalition partner Jumhooree Party (JP), said this after senior party members voiced concern over party leader Qasim Ibrahim’s decision to back parliamentary candidates of the opposition coalition led by the previous president, Abdulla Yameen.
Speaking at the event, Faisal thanked the residents of Gan who voted for the new government and that while the people chose to remove President Yameen due to higher aspirations, the fight for justice has not yet ended.
He urged the people to remember what the previous government had done to the parliament and work to stop it from repeating.
Faisal also said that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih understands the people and so only candidates who support the government’s pledges should be elected to parliament.
Praising candidate Wisam, Faisal said that he is someone who always does his work with diligence and optimism and that he would undoubtedly make for an excellent MP.
