Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid has met with Singapore’s Foreign Minister Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan.
The two met at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Singapore on Friday.
At the meeting, Minister Shahid briefed his counterpart on the developments in the Maldives and policy priorities of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration.
They reflected on the existing friendly relations between the two countries, and discussed issues of mutual interest and enhancing the bilateral cooperation, on areas that are of significance to the Maldives.
Minister Balakrishnan warmly welcomed Maldives re-joining the Commonwealth and expressed approval of Maldives’ participation in environmental issues on the international stage.
Minister Shahid thanked Minister Balakrishnan for Singapore’s continued support towards the development of Maldives.
He was accompanied at the meeting by Maldives Ambassador to Singapore Dr. Abdulla Mausoom, and Deputy Ambassador Eman Hussain.
