South Galolhu candidate Mickail Naseem has received death threats and has had his campaign sites vandalized.
The attackers ripped out the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) candidate’s posters and broke the windows of his two campaign sites.
Mickail, the President of MDP’s youth wing, said he had been receiving constant death threats before the attackers vandalized his campaign office and that this happened as he was showing the police the destroyed banners at another site.
In an earlier tweet, Mickail, said that his billboard has been stolen twice and that another candidate’s poster is now in its place.
There are five other candidates vying for the South Galolhu seat. They are incumbent Dhaandhoo MP Ahmed Assad (PPM), former Acting Police Commission Abdulla Nawaz (JP), Aminath Nadira (MRM), Ahmed Azim (independent), and Ismail Shafeeq (independent).
