Prominent Lawyer for Corporate and Public Interest, Mariyam Shunana has revealed that the petition seeking to dismiss members of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) suspected of large-scale corruption, is to be forwarded to the Parliament floor within the week.
RaajjeMV understands that former President and leader of main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Mohamed Nasheed has also signed the petition.
The petition has received over 300 signatures within the first two hours.
Some of the signatures include that of MPs Rozaina Adam, Imthiyaz Fahmy, and Ali Azim.
Petitioners have also held demonstrations calling on authorities to take immediate measures against the commission members over their investigative report of the MMPRC embezzlement case, which has been criticised for being incomplete.
The report in question, implicates several senior figures of the previous administration of Abdulla Yameen, to have received funds through SoF, the company which laundered the money embezzled from MMPRC. Some implicated in the scandal include incumbent Sports Minister Ahmed Mahloof.
Shunana via twitter revealed that the signatures can be collected and uploaded to google drive, or be mailed to [email protected].
