Parliament has forwarded the motion to annul votes that have scribblings in addition to the common checkmark on ballot papers, to a temporary committee.
The motion to annul ballot papers that have scribblings on them besides the checkmark for the vote, was submitted by opposition MP for Addu-Hulhudhoo constituency Mohamed Shahid at Wednesday’s sitting.
The five-member committee comprised of MP for Dhangethi constituency Ilham Ahmed, Kelaa constituency MP Ali Arif, Hulhudhoo constituency MP Mohamed Shahid, Maradhoo constituency MP Mohamed Shareef and Kudahuvadhoo constituency Ahmed Amir.
The motion seeks to declare ballot papers that have any form of writing or scribbling on them besides the checkmark as void.
At Wednesday’s sitting, the Parliament had passed the motion for the Maldives to ratify the “Framework Agreement for Establishing International Solar Alliance”.
