MET issues white alert from Alifu Alifu atoll to Addu City

Maldives Meteorological Department has on Tuesday night issues a white alert over Alif Alif atoll through to Addu City.

The white alert was issued from Alif Alif to Addu from 8pm Tuesday to 1am Wednesday.

Met Office predicts heavy rain shower and thunderstorms with choppy sea conditions to prevail over the regions within the given time period.

While winds are expected to blow 20 to 30 miles per hour during showers, scattered rain and isolated heavy showers are also expected in central and southern atolls.

While the white alert has been issued, the service earlier on Tuesday issued a yellow alert as well.

Following unceasing rain showers over Laamu atoll, Gan island had experienced flowing on Tuesday.

Maldives National Defense Force had revealed that flood water had entered six households and they had begun work to drain the stormwater.
