Parliament has approved three ambassador nominations made by Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

At Tuesday’s sitting, parliament approved Mohamed Jinah for Ambassador to Thailand, Mohamed Khaleel for Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, and Aishath Azeema for Ambassador to China.

On December 13, 2018, the committee on national security disapproved Jinah and Khaleel’s nomination but recently reversed their decision after speaker Qasim Ibrahim notified them that the issue of their debt have been settled.

Parliament earlier approved Thilmeeza Hussain for Maldives’ permanent representative to the UN and Ambassador the United States, Hassan Sobir for Ambassador to Brussels, Aishath Mohamed Didi for Ambassador to India, Umar Abdul Razzaq for Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Dr. Abdulla Mausoom for Ambassador to Singapore, Ahmed Latheef for Ambassador to Germany, Dr. Farahanaz Faisal for Ambassador to the United Kingdom, and Visam Ali for Ambassador to Malaysia.
