Council members of Hinnavaru island in Lhaviyani atoll have shared concerns regarding the lack of housing units on the island, with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
Especially noting the challenges faced by island residents due to the lack of shelter, the members also noted that the island harbor is in need of renovation.
At the meeting held at the President’s Office, the members briefed the President on ongoing and future development projects planned for the island.
Shedding light on the island residents’ wish to modernize the current ferry system, council members noted that they are also facing challenges due to the shortage of space in the council office.
Further, members highlighted that the island’s youth require a new football field and Youth Center.
Members also requested the government to speed up the work of transforming the island’s health center into a hospital.
Following the briefing, President Solih assured the council members that his government is committed to support the island and solve the issues faced by its residents.
