Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has joined Maldives Reform Movement (MRM).
On Friday night, Maumoon presented his membership application to Abdul Aleem, a senior member of the party.

Former First Lady Nasreena Ibrahim, long-standing senior state official Umar Zahir, and others also joined MRM on Friday.
Aleem told RaajjeMV that MRM is working to gain 3,000 members to register the party.

Maldives Reform Movement, formerly the Maumoon Reform Movement, is an offshoot of the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) created after Maumoon, PPM’s founder, was removed from the party by former President Abdulla Yameen over political disagreements during his administration.
