No longer will fishermen have to worry over not receiving payment for their catch, says President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
The President said this at a ceremony held in GA. Kooddoo on Wednesday night, to inaugurate the Fisherman’s Card and Digital Wallet.
At the ceremony, President Solih said that the Fisherman’s Card enables companies to deposit payments immediately to fishermen’s accounts as soon as their catch is weighed.
President Solih said that these services will erase fishermen’s worry of having to wait for their payments, which he noted was their biggest concern when he met them in his campaign run.
These discussions resulted in the Mas Dhoani Account, which introduces fishermen to the banking system, he said, adding that his government also pledges to provide speedboats and credit scheme.
Highlighting that fishermen will be able to make secure financial transactions without having to hold physical cash, the President said that the daily income fishermen receive via their accounts will also allow them to make use of other banking services.
