Major General Abdulla Shamaal, the Chief of Defence Force, said that he will take action against Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF)’s Major Naveen Zubair over his involvement in the MMPRC embezzlement case.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC)’s report showed that the Major had made transactions with Scores of Flair (SoF), the company used to launder money embezzled from the state’s marketing firm.

ACC’s report stated that SoF had deposited USD 100,000 to Naveen’s account.

Defence Chief Shamaal said that he found out about about Naveen’s involvement after reading the report, and assured that Naveen will be disciplined, according to the government’s policies.

He said that they were unable to question Naveen, since he was attending a course abroad when the report came out.
