Hassan Luthufee, President of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), is under investigation over a money-laundering case.
The police service confirmed that Luthufee is being investigated, but did not disclose any further details.
ACC publicized its report on the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) embezzlement case last Thursday, and has faced public scrutiny since.
While ACC was informed that some of its members and their family received some of the embezzled money, none of it was disclosed in the report.
The police service is using ACC’s report to begin investigations, and is obtaining statements for Luthufee’s case.
