President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has discussed opening a guesthouse in Dharanboodhoo island of Faafu atoll.
The island’s local government council discussed ways in which to develop tourism on the island with the president, and briefed him on challenges they currently face.
The council has asked the central government to aid in their efforts to build guesthouses on the island, and create an affordable market for local tourism.
One of the primary concerns for Dharanboodhoo island is that their harbour has fallen into disrepair, as well as the island’s water and sanitation system.
